NarniaMUCK and You: A Retrospective

If Glyn is jumping the gun I'm definitely too soon because I only got onto NarniaMuck a week or two ago. Feaelin's been talking about it a LOT lately. Like all the time. I didn't understand some of what he was trying to explain to me, and I finally decided it might be easiest to visit and try to figure out what he's talking about.

I wasn't really being his mole. (Mole, not moll. Just wanted to make that clear. Neither mole nor moll.)

I can't tell my how I got here story since it would point to another character, but I'll share Nevarre's start. I had been trying to get another character for months but every single background and character I came up with was either turned down, or the submission never went through (this is when we had web requests still). Eventually I came up with a really simple request and Nevarre was created. It didn't take too long for me to get in trouble with Ulfden (yes, I was a rogue once. weird to consider, I know ). Nev was a big time wulfie, but got a quick attitude adjustment when he met Faol. Ulfden has never been the same since

Hmm, how can I best summerize this....
I joined NarniaMuck probably not to long after I joined TheLionsCall. I guess you could say it's their fault. I wanted to be in on the jokes and people kept talking about how cool muck was. So I joined, I wasn't 12, but probably as immature and stupied. I was new to Mucks and messed up with all the ICly and OOCLY (I probably still do sometimes)
I had a good time for a bit until I ran into several problems with aspects of game. I think then followed just about everything I could possibly do wrong and not be banned. Maybe I exaggerate, I don't know.

But when I timidly returned one morning, after previously probably having been the most infuriating newbie I could be to staff, to my surprise I hadn't been deleted. Wix is awesome, people. Awesome! (So are the staffies too.) More fun rpging followed. I left Narniamuck for a time after getting involved in a (accidental to me) theft.
When the gossip came out, well... BC said it best

I was absolutely mortified and vowed never to show my face here again.

Life got busy and I forgot about Narniamuck. but then one day, sometime after I decided to check back here cause I missed the fun and friends I had made. I still think I'm a awful RP'er.

So that's just my boring, embarrassing history which probably no one probably wants to read.

Let's see... Glora got started when I met Lulia irl, who thought that someone who loved acting and Narnia as much as I did might enjoy this game. Since I also loved cats, Glora was born.
I had a pretty good mentor to tell me when I was being bad, but I still managed to get into some places where I was rude or broke rules, like running into the middle of people roleplaying and starting to fish without even saying hi. It wasn't until I got my alt that I actually started to learn how to role play well, and found out how to give Glora a personality that I could keep stable.
So yeah... That's how I got onto this game I absolutely love!

[Starlin]

I don't remember the exact method with which I found Narnia MUCK. Having been a fan of Narnia for years, however, it seemed the perfect place for me. Narnia was one of my first MU*s, and thus, like many others, I was a stupid newbie. My first character was a Winged Horse named Starlight, and I think she got into about as much trouble as was possible. I'm pretty sure the Pinefald herd never went a day without hearing about something she'd done. Probably one of the worst was wandering into Ettinsmoor and getting mauled by werewolves. But she had her friends also...fauns, centaurs, and other Horses. She found a mate, and had a foal...but things in Pinefald were a little too green, so she decided a few splatters of rouge would look nice, and ultimately achieved that when a giant stomped on her. Squish!

So, my main character kind of exploded. I dabbled in a centaur character, and even a faun, but ended up becoming more of a stable character as Starlin. But game rules and, I admit, even admin ended up frustrating me to the point that I left the game for a long while. I logged back on sporadically, and on AFD, but haven't yet reintegrated myself into the game, which I hope to do.

Ai-yi-yi. Okay...so I was in my first year of college when I started here...back in October of 2004. I had met some really awesome students that were both well read and fun to be around without getting into trouble. Most of them were Lewis fans. I had seen all the BBC movies as a child and had read LWW at least once..so when talk came up at the dinner table about something called an rpg that was based on Narnia I was interested. The book nerd in me helped keep me connect to the people as I listened to their various tales. It seemed fun enough...go on adventures withouth leaving the house and without having to really worry about consequence. That showed up in my rp for the first little bit. NOT SMART PEOPLE! LEARN FROM THIS!!!

There were a few that didn't play NarniaMUCK...but the majority of them..I think there were 7 that played. So... we would eat and they would talk about NarniaMUCK. I'd sit with them for hours and listen to what they were talking about. One of them... Redwolf if anyone remembers him... decided that it would be good for me to get a character. So... I did. We talked about EVERYTHING at the dinner table. Every night was more exciting than the next because we would rp, talk about it, and then get geared up for more rp. (Took them awhile to convince me to get an alt. HA HA) This probably wasn't the smartest idea...but I learned many ic do's and do not's from the seasoned players. I still messed up...but EVERYONE does. Staff was very patient in talking to me about things that I didn't understand. They also became my close friends. (Some of them I've even been blessed enough to meet in real life.)

I look back at some of those rps that I have and shake my head...because I logged them and they weren't very good. They are magical though. Firstly, they hold the essence of my character Lola. This has been really important to look back on. It's nice to have it in SIK...but when you look at how you have reacted in the past to things, it's a lot easier to pick up where you left off when you have a point of refrence. Two, I remember many lessons learned. I rped with several characters who were seasoned writers and excellent rpers. To those who trained me to be more imaginative and really think about being more detailed in my poses: Thank you. Some of you are here and some of you aren't. (It's a little sad. ) {Btw..Logging rocks guys }

The first person I met on the MUCK was Paxa. She was REALLY sweet and down to earth and seemed excited that there would be a faun around. She had the hovel marked #1 in Bergdale and gladly vacated it for me. I wasn't the first faun there...but for awhile I was the only one there who was active. Fauns came and went through my first 6 months. Yes, I said 6 months. People would log on, get bored and be done. Rp became more steady after the first year. Since then, I have taken breaks on and off because of RL. I have always come back because I really love it here.

This has been a safe place to imagine, create, and learn. Mucking has made me a better writer, listener, and observer of life. I also happen to think it's made me a better friend. I've had some pretty great ones here. Those who are reading and know me, you know who you are!

I'm really glad that after all the years that I have been playing it still exists with thriving rp. It may not light up with characters all the time on the 'who' list, but there are some well played faithful characters who log on day after day, month after month and year after year, that I salute. *fauny salutes*

I'm glad you guys are still here. I could never imagine logging on to the game and not knowing anyone on the who list.I hope that others will continue the marathon of logging on every day to experience the wonderfulness that comes from here! Welcome to you newbs who I have yet to rp with..if it would ever be ic for us to...lol. And thanks for..maybe reading all of my blah blah blah? Ha ha!

I guess I will offer up my story(really, it isn’t exciting but I am a bit bored )

I found out about the concept of MUCKing when I was a young Jr. High kid.(We are not going to talk about those years…sorry). I wasn’t that interested into MUCKing though and never really got into it(What a poor naive Jr. High Kid I was). However, as I progressed through High School and college, I found myself drawn to creating characters in my spare time. Most of them would be some secondary character that would be involved to some event in some book/movie/tv show that I happened to be enjoying at the moment. I had tried to write short stories however I quickly found that I really am very terrible at plots(Seriously, reversals and resolutions are my foe) but really good at back stories and character development. Anyway…flash forward to one late night where I was so so so tired of studying. Randomly my brain was like, “Yo, remember MUCKing? You might like it now that you are older and wiser? Matured? Well, you are older at least.” So I jumped up the internet, and quickly found NarniaMUCK. Being a C.S. Lewis fan and believing that I could come up with a simple character until I learned the ropes, I signed up and Crenna the Wolf was born.

I have enjoyed my experience immensely and have loved getting to know y’all either ICly or OOCly. I am always up for an RP session, so please do not hesitate to page me if you want to RP. Or if you want to chat. Or if you are just bored and want to page random people. I am cool with all of it. Also, I am always looking to improve, so if I mess up(which I have and I want to shout out of all the people who have helped me learn how to RP more effectively!), again don’t hesitate to page me.

Last thing before I’m gone(I am sure y’all are like, wow she just keeps going, but again I am a bit bored and get really wordy/sassy when that happens), Dreygan(who is like one of the coolest Wolves ever and you should get to know him) has a blog which mostly consists of our shenanigans so you ever need a laugh or just something to do, Check it out! A long long time ago~ I can still remember...
I was young and rather stupid, maybe around 12 I guess? I can't remember the exact age but that sounds about right. Anyway, I loved the books when I was younger so I wanted to play a game based on them so I went around the internet searching and...I found this, back when it was called godscreation. I tried to sign up for it but I couldn't for the life of me figure it out, there was some kind of email reg thing or something and I didn't have my own email address so i had to borrow my mum's...Anyway I couldn't figure it out at all so I gave up and forgot about it.
It was probably a good thing that I didn't manage though seeing as I was terrible at writing then (though I fancied myself quite the little author, me and some friends were always making characters and writing stories and such) but looking back on it all my characters were total Mary Sues.

Cue years later and I'm a university student on a nostalgia trip for things from my childhood and this included Narnia. I remembered a years-forgotten website and thought "It's a long shot but maybe it's still running" so I went looking for it, it had changed it's name since I first found it but it was still running, and this time I actually managed to sign up.
And now I'm here.
And stuff happened, and I'm doing THINGS and it's pretty cool.
