Is there a way to specify a particular object in a command when several objects in the same room have the same name? For example, if there are more than one "deer" in a room, is there a way to specify which one I want to "bite"? (Assuming I don't control any of the deer objects and so can't use #dbrefs.)
I'm curious about this too. You used to be able to specify objects with the same name in the same room by number based on their listing in the room contents. You used to be able to just type, "bite deer #1", where the first deer listed in the room contents, for instance, was deer #1, or deer 1 (I forget now), but that no longer seems to work.
Yeah, I think it sometimes works but is buggy. It still works with targets as far as I know, but picking up multiple satchels is a super messy process. I'll investigate further.
I think it would be cool if, once you purchased something like, say, a pack, if you could rename it so it was "Ruby's Large Leather Pack" or something like that. I've seen various tunics around the game that say "Trianna's Blue Tunic" and stuff like that.
At the tailor shop in Sted Cair, you can get some clothing items altered to fit you (this often doesn't apply to items that it would be weird for an animal to wear). When you do that, it adds your name to the name of the item, hence all the player-named fishing creels out there.
Edit: This doesn't work for satchels, packs, etc., so unfortunately this wouldn't be a good solution to the keywords issue.
I agree there needs to be some kind of way to differentiate, tracking and trying to kill a deer is hard for a dog, especially so when there's more than one of them in a room.
