Gathering Circle
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
What a sweet place you have wandered to. The forest trees here are scattered
across a soft meadow of heather and wildflowers, and the sun dapples the
ground through the leaves above. This is a wide section of earth, and it
seems to be a gathering place - indeed, there is a ring of stones in one side
of the open clearing where it seems fires have been built over many nights.
To the south, a worn path leads to the Caldron Pool and the waterfall that
feeds it. You can also see a path leading west toward the cliff-face. To the
east the path leads into the deeper forests of Lantern Waste.

Contents: A cat with brilliant green eyes (Glora); A dwarf wearing a black, hooded cape; and A wolf with a snow-white coat and golden eyes (Eirwyn).
A dwarf wearing a black, hooded cape walks slowly towards the Circle, his hood, as usual, pulled low over his head and axe resting on his shoulder. Hearing the two Narnians as he approaches, he slows a bit and examines them. His grip tightening on his axe as he notices the cat, he grumbles and continues towards a rock away from the two.
Aelius passes through the lessening trees and makes his way towards the small clearing.
Eirwyn tilts her head a little again. "Well, I would expect you to defend yourself. So it was after he attacked you first?" She glances over at the movement and observes the Dwarf a moment before saying to Glora, "I take it that's him?"
Glora looks around and her eyes narrow, tail lashing again. "Yes," she spits.
A dwarf wearing a black, hooded cape comes up to the rock, sitting down and letting his axe rest across his lap. He eyes the head, brushing off bits of dirt and pays no attention to the others.
Aelius walks closer the Eirwyn and Glora, "Good day, Am I disturbing anything?" He briefly glances at the dwarf.
Eirwyn gives a small nod to Glora. She starts to walk over to the Dwarf and says to Aelius, "Excuse me." She approaches the Dwarf, but comes to a stop at a respectful distance from him. "Excuse me, but I don't believe we've met. I am Eirwyn, Alpha female of the Ulfden pack."
Glora watches the Wolf and frowns slightly before giving her shoulder a quick lick and glancing toward Aelius. "Not really, I suppose..."
Aelius nods and watches Eirwyn and the Dwarf.
A dwarf wearing a black, hooded cape looks up towards the wolf as she approaches, examining her a moment before he lets the head of his axe drop to the ground and resting both hands on the butt of the hilt. "The mangy cat does of friends. " he says, almost to himself, then addressing the wolf. "I don't believe we have met either... nor do I really feel any inclination to now. " he returns, his voice deepening.
Eirwyn tenses a bit, but her tone remains calm. "That's too bad. However, I hear you've had some... confrontations with a fellow resident of the Waste, and I'd like to have your side of the story. I don't want to have to bring the issue to Curiate Tumnus."
Glora's fur rises along her spine as she hears the muttered 'mangy' with her sharp ears. Her tail flicks sharply as Eirwyn speaks again.
Aelius walks over to Glora and speaks quietly to her, "Did something happen?"
A dwarf wearing a black, hooded cape's jaw clenches, eyeing the wolf and then shooting a glance at Glora, his eyes narrowing. "I will tell you the same thing... I have told /everyone/ here. "He spits, his attention returning to Eirwyn. "I have no need for /any/ of you and for some twisted reason, you all." He glowers, now pointing directly at Glora. "She seems to think that my business is hers. Quite frankly, this is /NONE/ of your business either."
Eirwyn draws herself up. She speaks through clenched jaws. "While you have no need of us, you are in /our/ home. The defense and protection of Lantern Waste IS my business, and if you were accosting citizens of the Waste, THAT is my business. Very well then. It’s Glora's decision how to handle this. But at least I /tried/ to ask for your side of the story to find out what happened."
Glora leans towards Aelius, eyes still fixed on the Wolf and Dwarf. "Oh, only axe-waving, threatening, and my getting /thrown/ into /Cauldron Pool/." Her voice is soft and she then draws herself up, eyes glittering at Eirwyn's words.
Aelius turns to the dwarf in surprise and watches him suspiciously.
A dwarf wearing a black, hooded cape's expression grows flat, eyes flashing. "Lovely... "He grunts, now standing and hefting the axe over his shoulder. "We are done here."
Eirwyn continues to frown. "You are, at least. I'm still willing to hear your side, and I'm not trying to get into all of your business. Just trying to avoid any further problems on this one issue."
Glora listens intently, eyes narrowing.
A dwarf wearing a black, hooded cape looks down, his grip on the axe tightening. "My /story/. " he growls. "Is that... /THAT/ lil nuisance follows me around, spewing nothing but utter nonsense from her muzzle and sticking her claws into things she very obviously regrets..." he eyes the wolf with disdain." Seeing as she went to /you/. "
Eirwyn says, her voice as even as she can manage. "So she bothered you?" She glances back at Glora to see her response.
Glora rolls her eyes, then calls out, "I offered him some constructive criticism and conversation."
Aelius glances to Glora as she speaks again.
A dwarf wearing a black, hooded cape lets his axe hit the ground, still holding the hilt and taking a step in Glora's direction. "Like i /NEEDED/ your lack of wisdom." He spews. "If it weren't for your lil friend here, I would have half a mind to throw you back in the pool. " he growls, looking back to Eirwyn. "I said we are done here... didn't I?" he glares.
Eirwyn frowns a bit, but her tone remains even. "You kept talking, didn't you? I don't want trouble for Glora or you. Can you both just leave each other alone?"
Glora lashes her tail. "If he stays out of my way, I wouldn't waste my time seeking him out."
Aelius turns his head back and forth between the three.
A dwarf wearing a black, hooded cape's eyes flash, a smirk crossing his face. "OH look! " he calls out, so that all three can hear. "The first ounce... " he glances at Eirwyn. "However small... " He adds, before continuing. "Of wisdom I have heard since entering the waste. "He snorts, moving to pass Eirwyn, kicking up some dust at her as he passes.
Eirwyn snorts at the dust he kicks up. She growls and says, possibly loud enough for him to hear as he passes. "And I've got more class than respond with threats or violence too."
Glora snaps out, almost like she can't help herself, "Well, you certainly will never hear any coming from your own filthy mouth."
Aelius frowns as he watches the dwarf pass by.
A dwarf wearing a black, hooded cape chuckles at Eirwyn’s statement, moving to pass close to the cat. "Ah yes, I heard about how you just /let/ a giant into the waste. " he snorts at the wolf as he walks. "Didn’t want to respond with
/threats/ or /violence/ there either? "He smirks, then looking to the cat as he nears. "Learn how to swim yet?"
Glora draws herself up, eyes changing from flashing green fire to glittering ice. However, she glances briefly at Eirwyn and then looks away, the picture of contempt.
Eirwyn shakes her head a bit at his comments to her. "Ah, you have no idea." She frowns at his comment to Glora, but when Glora doesn't respond, she follows suit.
Aelius walks past the dwarf and closer to Eirwyn.
A dwarf wearing a black, hooded cape chuckles, shaking his head. "I guess not" he grins, moving past Glora and towards Caldron Pool.
Glora whips around, mouth curling back in a hiss. "I'd like to see how /you'd/ manage if /you/ got thrown into the middle of Cauldron Pool."
Eirwyn mutters something under her breath.
Eirwyn mumbles "Not ... the ... ... saw ... each other ... to...” to Eirwyn.
A dwarf wearing a black, hooded cape slows to a stop as he hears the cat, letting out a low laugh and turning. "Really... you just /HAD/ to continue didn't you. " he retorts, moving towards her slowly. "It sounds like you /miss/ that water... "He chuckles deviously, sarcasm dripping from his voice.
Aelius keeps walking past Eirwyn on his way to the edge of the clearing, but he stops and turns around when he hears the dwarfs words.
Glora stands, ears flattening and eyes turning to slits. She doesn't get off of her rock just yet, but her weight shifts to her hind feet. "More than I'd miss you."
Eirwyn's here XD
Eirwyn takes a couple steps toward them. "I thought you were both going to leave it alone."
A dwarf wearing a black, hooded cape lets his axe fall once more, pointing the head close to her. "Well then... why don't we reunite you." he growls, eyes flashing. “And this time... I doubt I will be able to /reach/ you in time." He sneers, paying no mind to the wolf.
Glora hisses softly, but deep in her throat. "Only if I get to drag you in with me. How buoyant is that precious axe of yours?"
Aelius starts rapidly heading back towards the two of them.
Eirwyn stays where she is, watching the two of them closely. She falls quiet, but her stance is tense and clearly ready to intervene if necessary.
A dwarf wearing a black, hooded cape moves a step close, the axe now within inches of her. "About as bouyent as you will be when I bind you to it. "He retorts. "Now... either you keep your mouth shut or I will let the water shut it for you. "
Meepicheep is casually strolling towards the gathering circle from the north when he hears the commotion ahead, he quickens his pace to investigate the cause of it and spies a small group, which he slowly moves to.
Glora is standing atop a rock that puts her at about eye-level with the Dwarf, poised for some sort of action. Her hiss turns into a vicious grin. "What, now you need a waterfall to do your dirty work for you? I'm flattered you'd give up your only love for me, though. How thoughtful."
Eirwyn pads a few steps closer to Glora and the Dwarf. "That's ENOUGH, from both of you."
Aelius makes a low growl as his nose wrinkles and his teeth show. He now stands low to the ground less than a few yards away.
A dwarf wearing a black, hooded cape continues staring her down. "Yes... as you use a mutt to do yours. " he spits. "You really are /helpless/... "He continues disdain growing. After a moment he begins turning, using his other hand to give her a good shove before he moves again towards the pool.
Meepicheep halts as he hears part of the conversation and stands unsure of what action should be taken.
Glora's stance absorbs much of the shove, but apparently he has still pushed her too far. With a terrifying caterwaul, mix of hiss and scream, she launches from the rock, claws glittering at the tips of her paws.
>>> Glora scratches Baldrick with her claws. Baldrick doesn't appear to be too injured, however.
Eirwyn gives a deep, low growl at being called a 'mutt.' She was about to let the Dwarf go before he shoved Glora and Glora attacked him. She growls again and says, "STOP THIS!" coming closer to try to break it up.
Aelius barks loudly at Glora and the dwarf.
A dwarf wearing a black, hooded cape whips around, eyes flashing and angry boiling. He kicks at the Cat in response.
>>> Baldrick tries to kick Glora, but misses.
Meepicheep, seeing this, rushes towards the group.
Glora fluidly slips around the kick, and this time, his miss doesn't stop her. She laughs, mocking, vicious. "Who's helpless now, mud-boy?" She hisses, crouching and pouncing again, as if no one else exists.
>>> Glora scratches Baldrick with her claws. Baldrick doesn't appear to be too injured, however.
Eirwyn attempts to put herself in between the two, but isn't fast enough to stop Glora from pouncing at the Dwarf again. She growls again, "ENOUGH! We don't need to be fighting each other like this!"
Aelius barks again.
A dwarf wearing a black, hooded cape grunts, eyes flashing again. "Move! " he glares, pushing past Eirwyn and moving for Glora again, his fist moving to swing at her.
>>> Baldrick tries to hit Glora, but misses.
Glora ducks under the swing, moving with liquid grace. "Oh, you are just /terrifying/," she hisses, fierce sarcasm bursting out as she slashes again.
>>> Glora swipes at Baldrick with her claws! Baldrick doesn't appear to be too injured, however.
Meepicheep decides the best course of action while he is scurrying and, while still moving, runs strait towards the cat and lunges on her with such force as to knock her onto the ground.
Eirwyn growls and after the Mouse tries to knock over Glora, she moves toward the Dwarf. She shoves at him to try to force some distance between him and Glora.
A dwarf wearing a black, hooded cape boils over at this, swinging at Glora with his axe seconds before he is pushed away, looking utterly oblivious to the world around him.
>>> Baldrick swings his axe at Glora with considerable force, the blade smashing into its target! Glora suffers a shallow cut!
Aelius barks loudly and pounces at the dwarf.
>>> Aelius nips at Baldrick! Baldrick winces, the bite stinging him a bit.
Glora yowls, first at the Mouse and then more of a shriek at the axe. She squirms out from beneath the Mouse lets loose another wailing caterwaul, fur along her spine on end. But she doesn't strike.
Eirwyn growls again as Aelius attacks the Dwarf. She shoves at the Fox, trying to get him away from the Dwarf. "STOP IT ALL OF YOU!" She then moves toward the Dwarf, standing in front of him to try to block his path to the others. "I'm ending this. NOW."
Meepicheep swiftly lets go of the cat and attempts to persuade her, "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU! GET A HOLD OF YOUR SELF!" the whole time moving between her and the dwarf.
A dwarf wearing a black, hooded cape tumbles backwards, growling in anger, not at the fox, swinging hard at him. Then stopping as he hears Eirwyn.
>>> Baldrick swings his axe at Aelius with considerable force, the blade smashing into its target! Aelius suffers a shallow cut!
Glora focuses on the Mouse, pupils dilating and contracting. Slowly, slowly, she straightens, lips still curled back. pose stumbles over from Eirwyn's shove and then the strike of the axe. He gets up moments later and steps back a few feet, still growling.
Aelius stumbles over from Eirwyn's shove and then the strike of the axe. He gets up moments later and steps back a few feet, still growling.
Eirwyn stands in front of the Dwarf now that the others are away from him. Though she speaks to the group, her focus remains fixed on the Dwarf and his axe. "Now are we ALL going to calm down and stop striking at each other?"
Glora spits out, "He's not worth dulling my claws on any more."
A dwarf wearing a black, hooded cape holds his axe, ready to strike again and breathing hard. His expression is dark as he looks around the group, remaining silent for the moment.
Meepicheep straitens up and very slowly moves away from the cat, his eyes, glancing back and forth between her and the dwarf.
Aelius stops growling and straightens up.
Eirwyn nods. She takes a few breaths as she calms down. "There. We don't have to be friends or all buddy-buddy, but we're all Narnians. We should respect each other for at least that much."
Glora looks away, claws digging into the dirt. "I will /not/ do anything /like/ respecting /him/."
A dwarf wearing a black, hooded cape buries his axe, thrusting his finger towards her. "You asked for it... /all/ of it." he growls
Meepicheep is about to say something but instead remains silent.
Eirwyn frowns. "So don't respect each other. Leave each other alone. End it."
Aelius frowns.
Glora says, "Once again, I'm /not/ going to seek him out. I don't want his filth to rub off on me."
A dwarf wearing a black, hooded cape turns away, grumbling. "Good..." He returns simply, hefting his axe to his shoulder once more and moving to the pool once more.
Eirwyn gives a small nod. "Good."
Meepicheep rests his left hand on the pommel of his sword and watches both of them carefully.
Aelius turns and starts walking back toward the thick woods.
Glora stands and also heads towards the Waste, tail still slightly puffed.
A dwarf wearing a black, hooded cape walks south.
Glora walks east, toward the edge of Lantern Waste.
Eirwyn remains quiet, simply glancing after the others as they leave.
Meepicheep remains silent for a while before turning and bowing to Eirwyn, "My sincerest apologies if I have caused more harm than good in that dreadful situation."
Aelius continues walking until he reaches a tall tree that lies on the edge of the clearing. He scrambles up it rests upon one of the thick lower branches.
Eirwyn shakes her head. "You didn't do any harm, Meepicheep. You helped me get them to stop fighting. Thank you for that."
Meepicheep nods in recognition to Eirwyn.
Eirwyn glances toward the woods. "If you'll excuse me, I think I'm going to head back to the den. Good day to you." She dips her head to the Mouse and then pads off into the woods.
Eirwyn trots east, toward the edge of Lantern Waste.
Meepicheep bows gracefully to Eirwyn as she leaves
