Ulfden Clearing

You stand in the midst of a clearing in the woods. Tall trees surround you on
all sides, with a wooded hill looming over you to the west. Little sunlight
streams through the foliage of the trees above. Rocks jut from the ground and
hill, giving the clearing a wilder look. Jutting out of the wooded hill to the
west is a rocky overhang casting a slight shadow around the entrance to what
seems like a cave. A scraggily wolf pads back and forth before the entrance,
glancing your way.

The clearing ends in a rock path leading through scattered trees to the east.
A small cave entrance dwells underneath the overhang to the west.

Caileana comes trotting out of the den.

Eirwyn walks about the Clearing, looking out into the surrounding woods. She walks along the edge, pacing a little, but looking relatively at ease.

Nevarre walks out of the den quietly. Seeing the other two in the clearing, he moves towards Eirwyn. "Good Evening" he says

Eirwyn turns to face the den. She gives a small smile when Nevarre joins her. "Good evening," she says. She then nods to Caileana as well. "Hello, Caileana."

Caileana moves towards the pair. "Alphas," she says, nodding.

Nevarre turns towards Caileana, “I have been looking for you tenderfoot.”

Caileana tilts her head slightly. “Oh?”

Eirwyn moves to see Caileana as Nevarre does. She looks to Nevarre, allowing him to continue.

Nevarre gestures for Caileana to move in front of him and Eirwyn.

Caileana does so obediently, tail swishing slightly.

Nevarre looks at Caileana, his gaze steady. He says, "I have watched you grow much, both physically and mentally; practically since you were a pup."

Eirwyn remains quiet, allowing Nevarre and Caileana to speak uninterrupted.

Caileana dips her head just a fraction in acknowledgement, but remains silent.

Nevarre says, "You have been through much, and you have the scars to prove. However, you have not let that deter you. You have instead stepped up your performance in a desire to best what you are capable of"

Caileana nods, her gaze flickering to the long, jagged scar on her side and back to Nevarre. "That is my hope," she says softly.

Eirwyn continues to be quiet, looking between them. She gives a small nod of agreement with Nevarre.

Nevarre nods, "Good. Eirwyn has spoken highly of your performance recently and I have personally seen it and tested it for myself."

Caileana smiles slightly, glancing at Eirwyn at this.

Nevarre says, "Tell me- What does it means to be a member of a pack, this pack in fact"

Eirwyn gives another nod of agreement with Nevarre's previous statement, then looks to Caileana for her response.

Caileana considers her words for a moment before answering, "To be a member of this pack is to be part of something that is bigger than yourself. It is to be part of a family, a family that looks out for its own and strives to make the Waste safe for all. It is to put duty and the needs of others above your own. It is about disciplining yourself to reach your full potential. And for me, the pack is about faith in Aslan and loyalty to each other in everything." She speaks with firm but quiet conviction.

Nevarre asks, "And do you view Ulfden as your family? Are these other wolves like your brothers and sisters?"

Caileana says, "I do. There was a time, right after my parent's passing, that I did not, but it was the pack as my family that helped me to get through that time."

Eirwyn gives a small nod, looking pleased with Caileana’s response.

Nevarre nods, "I wise thing to remember. Don't ever forget to bring your needs and troubles before your kin."
Nevarre asks, "Now, do you believe you have learned everything you can under the close guidance and instruction of Eirwyn?"

Caileana frowns slightly. "I do not think that I have learned all I can from Alpha Eirwyn," she says. "There is still much that I do no know. But I do believe that I have reached a point in which I am ready for more responsibility, and different level of learning within the pack."

Eirwyn remains quiet.

Nevarre nods, "You answer well. There is still so much you can learn from her and to forget that would be unwise." He listens to the second part of Caileana's response and says, "Oh? and what level of learning do you believe you are ready for?"

Caileana gives a slight shrug. “Whatever you feel that I am ready for, so long as it is more responsibility than I have now.”

Nevarre hmms, “That is a very blunt request.”

Caileana lowers her head slightly. “True. But I do not claim to know what my assigned place should be in the pack, only that I feel I have learned what I can at this level.”

Nevarre nods, "And so you have. Eirwyn and I have discussed it and we believe that you are indeed ready for more responsibility"

Caileana nods, her gaze shifting between the pair.

Eirwyn nods her agreement.

Nevarre says, “We believe you to be ready to take on the position of a scout, and with that the responsibilities of it.”

Caileana dips her head in a slight bow.

Eirwyn gives a small smile. She says simply, "You have done well. Continue to strive for excellence as you have, and you will make a fine scout too."

Nevarre says, "A scout does indeed have more responsibilities. They are no longer required to train under the close eyes of their hunter and they don't need to be accompanied in the field. However, it is still recommended that you do your patrols with another member of the pack. It is unwise to go out alone"

Caileana smiles, looking pleased at Eirwyn's comment. Her tail swishes proudly, and she listens carefully to Nevarre before responding, "Of course."

Nevarre gestures towards the woods with his paw. He says, "Now...go scout something" He says with a slight smile

Eirwyn smiles. "Congratulations, Scout."

Caileana chuckles, and a soft smile graces her expression. She bows her head as low as she can. "Thank you, Alpha, Alpha." She meets both Eirwyn's and Nevarre's eyes in turn, maintaining eye contact with Eirwyn for a brief second longer. Her tail raises slightly, and she straightens with obvious pride.

Nevarre says, “Serve this pack and Narnia well, scout.”

Eirwyn nods. “Make us proud like I know you will.”

Caileana says, “I’ll do my best.”
Caileana, with a swish of her tail, dips her head to the Alphas and trots off into the woods.
