The game is fixed, you guys!

As you will know if you have logged on in the last week and a half, the game has been really buggy. Most commands have been broken, and though we could still RP (mostly), we had to use all kind of workarounds, it was painful for everyone, etc. This had to do with some changes that our server host made that didn't allow the game (or staff) to access a number of game files (such as programs). This morning, however, Feaelin (who is wonderful!) got access to all of our files restored.

Unfortunately, to get the game back up and running with access to all files, he had to do a force shutdown without saving. This means that we lost all game data since December 9th. This shouldn't be too big of an issue because we haven't instituted any major game changes in that time, but keep in mind that these are some things that may be missing:

• Any characters that were created after Dec. 9. If you had a character that is now missing from your db, contact staff and we'll re-create the character for you.
• Any page #mails that you've sent or received since then. If you think you sent a pmail on or after Dec. 9 and you aren't sure that the recipient has read it, I would suggest re-sending it. If you read and saved a pmail that's now missing and you don't have a log of its contents, try asking the person who sent it if they kept a copy. Hopefully between us all, we will have logs of most of these things!
• Any logon information that occurred since Dec. 9. Someone's laston may say that they haven't been around since November when they did in fact log on yesterday. So take this with a grain of salt for a little while, basically.
• Any descriptions, FENIs, attributes, etc. that you've added or changed since Dec. 9. Again, hopefully you or someone else logged or saved a copy, but take a look at your character to make sure everything is up to date. If you notice any descriptions that are missing from the game or are outdated (for example, room descriptions), let me know.
• Any items you foraged for, hunted, purchased, etc. since Dec. 9.
• Any combat or other skills you've trained up since Dec. 9, any strength or stamina points you've gained, any coins or silver apples you've earned, etc. If you know you had x number of coins or SAs, or that you were at x combat skill level, etc. before the shutdown this morning, let me know and I'll restore it for you!
• Father Christmas stuff: all Father Christmas gifts for this year were lost, and we also had to stop following his schedule as of Dec. 17 because his program was one of the first to stop working in the glitch. Fortunately, I had a record of almost all of the gifts that he had given out before he broke, and I have restored them. There was one gift that I was not able to restore because while I know what the gift was, I don't have a record of who received it. If your characters have greeted Father Christmas this year, log them on and check their inventories to make sure they have their gifts. If anything is missing, let me know! You can also resume having your characters greet FC now, following the updated schedule here.

Because there may still be issues to work out with our hosting service, please let staff know if you notice anything else that isn't working correctly. Please also continue to log everything and save copies of your pmails, descriptions, etc. I'm hopeful that we won't lose any further data, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Also, if you're like me and log absolutely everything that comes across your screen and are willing to look through your logs for information other people may have lost, please reply below to help your fellow NarniaMUCKers out!
