Hey guys!
SO. You might have heard some rumblings about this if you happen to have a character who lives in Andale or the castle. You might have heard about this if somebody who has one of those characters told you about the rumblings. You might have heard about this if you happened to be logged on during one of the many, many times I hit a wall with this project and got loudly frustrated. You might have heard some rumblings if you happened to be logged on during one of the times I accomplished stuff and got loudly jubilant.
I build loudly.
Anyway this is what all the rumbling has been about. It took an absurdly long time and a whole lot of squinting at the book and then squinting at the game and then squinting at the book some more and making notes and drinking coffee and throwing the notes away and making new notes and squinting at the book and game EVEN MORE and trying REAL HARD to reconcile the two in a way that would give a location to the all the important book happenings without changing too much of the existing game. Some of the game had to change. It happens, and I want to say thank you to everybody we talked to beforehand. You were all so gracious, and that took the pressure off in a big way!
So without further ado:
So this is Andale as you're used to it, as it's been since 2004 when it was built. You can see where the Great Woods are in relation to Archenland and the mountains between.
And here's Andale now.
The two really big changes are to the position of Anvard and the position of Andale's main crossroad. Anvard has been flipped from facing west to facing east to fit the book (this means some internal changes as well. Basically every single directional exit inside the castle was reversed and the messages and descs were changed accordingly. An opportunity for some Silver Apples here: if you find an erroneous exit/message/desc, let me know via page or pmail and I will fix it. Every error report is worth 5 SAs and my eternal gratitude.) The castle has also been moved from the east side of the main road to the west, to put it more where it should be to work with the book's events. The crossroad is now directly west of Andale instead of southwest.
Also there's a pass from Archenland to Narnia now and some new GW rooms. That happened.
And just for fun, here's a super messy thing so you can see Shasta and the Narnian army's routes.
Shasta (orange) comes up from the south, takes the right fork and follows the road away from Anvard (page 170 in my copy of HHB), heads up into the mountains, goes through Stormness Pass, walks along a precipice with Aslan on his left between him and the edge (pg. 196), goes down into a valley on the Narnian side of the mountains (pg. 181), meets some talking animals and a dwarf, goes to the dwarf's house for breakfast, sleeps all day, and wakes up in time to join the Narnian army when it heads across the mountains to help Anvard in the battle against Rabadash.
The Narnian army and Corin (red) marches down from Cair Paravel to the north and takes a break outside the dwarfs' house. Shasta joins them when Corin's minder sprains his ankle, and they head back south across Stormness Pass. They reach the Archenland side in the evening (pg. 197), and charge down toward Anvard over a ridge (pg. 197).
And that's about it! Feel free to poke around and familiarize yourself with the changes, let me know if you have any questions or would like anything clarified.
(i'm super excited to finally be able to show this to you guys oh my goodness i really hope you like it aaaahhh)
