Tracking

Post by Ruby »

I'd like to improve my tracking skills, for both of my characters. (Yes, I'm aware that Unicorns probably aren't the best trackers...but my other alt could really use it in hunting.)

Any tips on how to refine these skillz and/or be able to track anything at all?

Thanks!

Same way you improve anything on the MUCK -

Do it. A lot. :P

Seriously, though, that's the way to do it. I set up a few triggers in my client to 'track' whenever I enter a room, and that gets me up to a decent tracking skill level in due time.

Ruby,
One thing that's important to know with tracking is that your ability doesn't improve if you stay in one room and type "track" over and over. You can only type it once every time you enter a room.

So, for instance, if you went west into the Gathering Circle and typed:
track
track
track
track
You would only improve one "track"s worth.

However, if you typed:
track
east
track
west
track
east
track
west
then your track can increase with every time you type it.

I see. 'Cause I've tried that and I've gotten nowhere. :bang:
Then again, it took me /forever/ to get my Gore up to Poor. :p

Thanks!

Yeah it takes a while. :) Longer for some species than others. :)

The best way I improved my tracking skill was doing EXACTLY what antheia said. I would just come on at times and track for an hour or so. Took me a few months before I was expert, if I recall... then again, my species specializes in tracking.

Thanks for the tips, guys! I have recently become an EXPERT at Tracking. (Yes, as Ruby.)

And I love it.
